Run a Family Feast
In 2012, British Food Fortnight is running a nationwide Love British Food campaign (www.lovebritishfood.co.uk) at the same time as the Olympics (27th July – 12th August).
To celebrate the greatest show on earth, Love British Food is working with LOCOG as part of the Cultural Olympiad and the London 2012 Festival, to organise Family Feasts in Sure Start Children's Centres in disadvantaged areas of the country. Family Feasts is all about giving some of Britain's communities the opportunity to get together and celebrate the excitement of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
British Turkey is delighted to be supporting Love British Food Family Feasts to celebrate the London 2012 Festival and is offering the first 24 centres that sign up a hamper of turkey cuts to get them off to a flying start.

Of course, anyone can take part in the celebrations. Why not organise your own celebratory feast with your family and friends. We've listed below some pointers to help you organise a winning event!
- Venue – find a venue that is big enough for your guests. This could be your own back garden or you may need to hire a hall.
- Theme – why not add a theme to the event, ask everyone to come dressed as athletes. Invite your guests to compete in mini-games – this could include throwing the bean-bag, an assault course, egg & spoon or the wheelbarrow race. You could get together some cheap prizes for the winners or even make your own fun medals from card and ribbon.
- Recipes – work out what food you will serve at your event. Try and use local produce where possible and make it easier for yourself and select dishes that can be prepared in advance. If you choose the 4. BBQ route find a willing volunteer who will do the cooking! You could also ask your guests to bring a dish each, just make sure you tell them what to bring otherwise you could end up with 10 salads!
- Drinks – why not mix up a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails. Name them after Olympic heroes or events.
- Photos – make sure you take lots of pics of your feast and send them to us to add to our gallery.
